Hello Punkers,
This video was inspired by seeing the Dead Milkmen play at the Mosswood Meltdown festival recently — and a look back on how buying their tape was formative event of my youth. When I was done with this I realized it’s an 80s nostalgia piece more than anything. I discuss my involvement with the defunct reel-to-reel technology of tape cassettes. It was a smaller world then and we did not access to everything through streaming as kids do today. By the time I was a teenager I owned over 100 tapes — that made my music collection bigger than most. I grew my collection from there by borrowing from a boomer friend’s giant vinyl collection which was my version of a streaming database.
